Why You Should Say “No” To Live The Life You Love

“You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and work hard for it.” -Lionel Messi

Lots of people in the world believe that in order to have real success, you need to say “yes” to lots of opportunities.

And while it’s true that we do need to accept lots of opportunities that come our way, but the real truth is that we need tosee clearly what doesn’t serve us and cut it out from our lives…after all, this what creates space for opportunity to begin with.

Many people of success and recognition had to learn to say “no” to their desires and temporary satisfactions in order to achieve goals in life…and we’re no different.

Gandhi was a perfect example of this: he gave up everything that wasn’t serving his goal of inner happiness and learned restraint…and the willpower he achieved through that gave him the strength to inspire an entire nation to (peacefully) defeat the British.

Change Your Mindset

It’s definitely not easy to say no to our normal habits, routines, and friends…but in order to have what our heart really desires, sacrifice is necessary.

You MUST change your mindset; you have to get committed to what you really want in life. If you can’t, then it’s time to go back to the drawing board and rethink what you really want.

If you’re not serious about it, admit it. Don’t be afraid to live your truth and embrace it. An honest life is more fulfilling than a halfhearted effort.

Getting Over the Fear

It’s normal to have fear or resistance when radically changing your lifestyle choices. No one can blame you for that.

What might be the hardest is when you’re faced with a challenge of staying home and working on your project, or going out with friends to have fun.

But the question you have to keep in mind is what is better for you? A night of fun or a lifetime of fulfillment? Of course you want some balance, but don’t shy away from sacrifice.

Sacrifice is your friend, not your enemy.

You Can Do It!

Keep your goals in mind, and view this as an opportunity to strengthen your will.

A strong will is considered one of the most important qualities of a yogi; not only in life but in spiritual pursuits we have to be strong.

It’s not easy to always be on our a-game, but if you keep charging forward, life will start throwing more opportunities your way…and before you know it, one day you’ll look back and be stunned by the progress you’ve made.

But it starts with baby steps. So the question is…what are you willing to say “no” to right now? What can you give up to have more?

Remember: you can do it! It’s not beyond your reach
